Into the Obelisk

Tanaka followed Lord Alistair and Ethan through the overgrown streets of what was once Washington, D.C. Nature had reclaimed the city, with vines and trees weaving through the ruins of buildings, and wildlife roaming freely. The only structure that remained untouched was the Washington Monument, now known as the Great Obelisk, standing pristine and imposing against the backdrop of the wild landscape.

Imperatrix Auriella and her guards along with Captain Cullen were already waiting at the base of the Obelisk. The Imperatrix, a tall and imposing figure, regarded them with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion. “Lord Alistair,” she said, her voice cold and commanding. “What is the meaning of this?”

Lord Alistair stepped forward, his expression calm and resolute. “Imperatrix Auriella, we have come to seek your assistance. The time rift in the Atlantic Ocean is destabilizing, and we need to close it before it causes irreparable damage.”

Auriella’s eyes narrowed. “And why should I trust you? This could easily be a trap.”

Ethan stepped in, his voice earnest. “We have no reason to deceive you. The rift is a threat to all of us, and we need your help to fix it. The key to closing the rift lies in the basement of the Great Obelisk.”

The Imperatrix considered their words for a moment before nodding. “Very well. But know this: if you betray us, there will be no place in this world where you can hide.”

With that, they entered the Monument, taking the elevator down to the basement. The air grew colder as they descended, the walls lined with ancient runes that seemed to glow faintly in the dim light. At the bottom, they found a massive door, its surface covered in complex mechanisms and locks.

Tanaka stepped forward, her hands trembling slightly as she began to work on the locks. “This is it,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. “The key to saving our world.”

As the final lock clicked open, the door slowly creaked ajar, revealing a chamber filled with strange, pulsating energy. In the center of the room, a pedestal held a set of schematics and a materials list for building a time/space craft of Sky People design.

Ethan’s eyes widened as he examined the documents. “This is incredible. With these plans, we can construct a vessel capable of navigating the time rift and bringing the USS Tecumseh back to our time.”

Lord Alistair nodded. “But we must act quickly. The rift is growing more unstable by the minute. Tanaka, we need your expertise to decipher these schematics and guide us through the construction process.”

Tanaka felt a chill run down her spine. The stakes were higher than she had imagined. She had to find a way to trust Ethan and his father, at least for now. “Alright,” she said slowly. “I’ll help you. But if I find out this is a trick, there will be consequences.”

Lord Alistair nodded. “Understood. Time is of the essence. Let’s get to work.”
